    Chateau Canadel Bandol Rosé '25

It isn't exactly a secret that Bandol Rosés tend to bring a few more rich complexities to the table than many of their crisp, porch-pounding counterparts in Provence, but Château Canadel's iteration of the Bandol rosé brings some serious geologic weight to back it up.

During the formation of the Alps, the ground, to put it simply, flipped upside down. The Cretaceous layer, no slouch itself at 65 million years, slipped underneath the 200 million year old limestone dating back to the Triassac Period. And while I'm not certain to what extent age and wisdom always align, there's certainly enough complexity here to make a positive case. The expected fresh fruit is here: fresh, tart strawberry and zesty grapefruit, with the fleshiness of nectarine, but balanced by jasmine a profound mineral streak. It's certainly ready to go now, but there's enough here to lay it down a little longer and emphasize the savory depths. What's 5 years on 200 million?
